What Market Expectations measures

Market Expectations separates what has already happened from what is expected to happen, and keeps official statistics visually and editorially distinct from investor sentiment.

Data sources

Official statistics are read only from structured, publicly documented interfaces operated by the named institutions: the ECB Data Portal, the Eurostat dissemination API and the European Commission’s official AMECO database. Every published observation retains its official series identifier, source link, attribution, reference period, fetch time and transformation note. Refresh frequency

Official sources publish on different schedules, so Grovcap checks each approved provider for updates daily and writes only changed observations. Page visits read stored observations and never trigger extraction. A failed refresh for one provider never removes verified data from another; the last verified value remains timestamped and may be marked stale once it passes the publication lag expected for that series.

Forecast data

European Commission figures are forecasts, not outcomes. Each forecast is stored with the forecast year it refers to and the vintage of the AMECO release it was taken from. Forecast values are never blended with realised statistics and are never presented as actual data.

Investor Predictions

Investor Predictions is Grovcap’s first-party investor sentiment polling. Results represent participating Grovcap users only. They are not representative of all European investors and are not market-implied probabilities. Results below 10 responses are labelled as early results and shown as counts rather than percentages. No results are fabricated, seeded or simulated. One response is permitted per privacy-preserving voter token; no invasive fingerprinting is used. The optional investment-intention response is stored separately and never affects the primary result.

Data quality

• Missing values are never converted to zero, interpolated or estimated.
• No silent proxy substitution: a series is either published or shown as pending.
• Observations that exceed their expected publication lag are identified as stale.
• Previous verified observations are preserved when a provider temporarily fails or changes its schema.
• Grovcap may calculate simple period-over-period changes and direction by comparing consecutive observations of the same series consistently.
